Malkajgiri railway station redevelopment underway, set for completion in six months

Malkajgiri railway station redevelopment underway, set for completion in six months. As many as 1,275 stations have been shortlisted across India for renovation and redevelopment by the Indian Railway. Among them, Malkajgiri railway station was selected and a budget of Rs 27 crore was allocated for developing work.

According to the South Central Railway (SCR) authorities, the works were under process, including the foundation of a 12-metre wide Foot over Bridge, lifts and centering works on the ground floor for the AC waiting hall and RPF office. The construction of a highlevel water tank is also completed and a shelter on platform number 1 and 2 is in the completion stage. Apart from this, construction of VIP lounge, toilets and bathrooms on platform 1 and 2 side walls is in progress.

The approach road from the old parking shed to LC Gate Road on the east side of Terminal-1 has also been formed and a cement concrete road will be laid, using which passengers can directly reach the station from Anutex Circle. Also, an elevation on both sides with porticos is being planned with arches and a park and water fountains and a ‘I Love Malkajgiri’ selfie point is also on cards.

“As the footfall at Malkajgiri has increased, it will be better if one more platform on the east side adjacent to the booking counter to LC Gate No 255 Gouthamnagar- Malkajgiri-Medchal is provided,” said Praveen Kumar, a local resident. Currently, around 62 trains are passing through the station on a daily basis, with around 600 general ticket holders and 500 reserved ticket holders’ travelling every day. Meanwhile, along with the facelift of the station, the locals requested the SCR authorities to construct a platform and upgrade a few facilities for the benefit of passengers.

Shantanu Naidu, millennial friend of Ratan Tata.

Shantanu Naidu has been a dearest friend to Ratan Tata. He shared a heartwarming note on Tata’s demise. Since 2018, Shantanu served as Ratan Tata’s manager, handling various responsibilities and initiatives under Tata’s guidance.

Ratan Tata, loved by every Indian, sadly passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 86. The iconic business tycoon took his last breath, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be remembered. Ratan Tata was celebrated not only for transforming the Tata Group into a global powerhouse but also for winning hearts with his kindness and altruism. However, did you know that this 86-year-old had a 28-year-old close friend? Yes, you read that right! A man, who belonged to a traditionalist generation, developed a bond with a millennial. We’re talking about Shantanu Naidu, the youngest general manager at Tata Trust and Ratan Tata’s trusted assistant.

Shantanu Naidu hails from Pune, Maharashtra. For his higher education, Naidu attended Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2014 and obtained a degree in engineering. The journey from completing his engineering degree to becoming an intern at Tata Elxsi, one of Ratan Tata’s companies, marked the beginning of his career. After graduation, he pursued an MBA from Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, where he excelled in various leadership roles.

Ratan Tata’s closest friend from the millennial generation was Shantanu Naidu. The 30-year-old, in an interview, even referred to Ratan Tata as a “Millennial Dumbledore.” Their bond began when Shantanu was working as a design engineer at Tata Elxsi in 2014. One day, Shantanu saw a dog lying lifeless in the middle of the road, which broke his heart. His love for dogs inspired him to do something for stray dogs. That’s when he came up with the idea to design a dog collar with reflectors. However, raising enough funds for the project became a challenge for Shantanu.

At this point, Shantanu’s father encouraged him to write a letter to Ratan Tata. Initially hesitant, Naidu finally wrote the letter and received a response two months later. Soon after, Naidu, along with one of his friends, went to meet Ratan Tata in Mumbai. When the industrialist asked how he could help with the project, the two friends resisted the urge to ask for immediate financial assistance. Nevertheless, Ratan Tata later invested in Shantanu’s venture, which became what Naidu calls a “Ratan Tata-backed startup.”

Over time, their friendship deepened, and they developed a beautiful bond.

From 2018 onwards, Naidu served as Ratan Tata’s manager, handling various responsibilities and initiatives under Tata’s guidance. Shantanu Naidu also owns a business which goes by the name Goodfellows. His business aims to provide assistant to elderly in their later years. His company reportedly has a net worth of Rs 5 crore.

Taking to LinkedIn, Naidu shared a touching picture of him and Ratan Tata and wrote, “The hole that this friendship has now left with me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to fill. Grief is the price to pay for love. Goodbye, my dear lighthouse.”

Ratan Tata’s legacy will continue to inspire us all.

The Ambitious Business Plan Of Narayana Murthy’s Son, Rohan Murty

Rohan Murty owns 1.45% of Infosys, whose market value is about $80 billion, making him the second-largest individual shareholder of the outsourcing giant founded by his father Narayana Murthy.

Rohan Murty’s Soroco works with global corporations to streamline office tasks.

Rohan Murty saw his father build Infosys Ltd. into one of India’s national champions by pioneering a novel strategy of outsourcing technology services. Now the 39-year-old is attempting a no less daunting task of using data to make white-collar workers more efficient.

The billionaire Harvard alum’s Soroco works with global corporations to streamline office tasks, using techniques similar to Toyota Motor Corp.’s pioneering efforts decades ago to eliminate waste in manufacturing.

The company collects data to study patterns of how workers use software across teams and suggests fixes to iron out kinks, boost productivity and reduce costs. The solutions can be better technology, automation, standardization and preventing repetition of tasks.

Rohan Murty’s Soroco works with global corporations to streamline office tasks.

The startup, based both in Boston and Bangalore, gets a real-time view of how people in teams get work done by using machine learning. Customers include drugmaker Bayer AG, engineering giant Robert Bosch GmbH, candy and petfood maker Mars Inc. as well as some Wall Street banks and global online retailers.

“The manufacturing industry built and refined processes to make blue-collar work more efficient but the digital age has no parallel,” founder and Chief Technology Officer Murty said in an interview recently in Bangalore. “Soroco has built the white-collar equivalent.”

He’s hardly the first one to come up with the concept, which is dubbed task mining in industry parlance. Giants such as Microsoft Corp., International Business Machines Corp. and SAP SE all have similar offerings and have struggled to make much of a dent in the daily inefficiencies of white-collar work.

Mr Murty thinks he’s found a more effective approach. Soroco’s software can collect data and map patterns across entire teams, uncovering inefficiencies and waste that top executives can’t see, he said.

It’s common to see the management pitted against the team doing the work,” said Mr Murty, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a doctorate from Harvard University, both in computer science,. “Soroco helps align both toward a common goal.”

In one example, a global pharmaceutical firm faced complaints from customers about delays in handling orders, rebates and returns. Soroco says its machine-learning software detected steps along the way that required a significant amount of manual work and recommended automation across multiple locations. That cut the processing time by 75%, resulting in a steep reduction in complaints, according to the startup.

Days After ‘Threatening’ Saudi Arabia, US Nuclear Submarine Makes A Very Rare Appearance In The Arabian Sea

All is not well in and around the Arabian Sea. While Iran tried to steal U.S. unmanned surface vessels, tensions are also brewing between the U.S. and its seasoned ally Saudi Arabia. Against this backdrop, a U.S. nuclear submarine has made a rare and startling appearance in the region.

General Erik Kurilla, commander of Centom, conducted a visit aboard the USS West Virginia, a US Navy Ohio-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine at an undisclosed location at sea in international waters in the Arabian Sea. Photo: US Central Command

In a highly unusual move, the U.S. Central Command revealed that an Ohio-class nuclear submarine was sailing in the Arabian Sea. The announcement was made as the top U.S. military commander for the Middle East boarded the ballistic missile submarine to assess the Navy’s capability.

General Erik Kurilla went aboard the USS West Virginia submarine for about eight hours as the submarine rose to the surface and appeared at an unknown location in the Arabian Sea.

About 14 Ohio class ballistic missile submarines, also known as SSBNs, are currently active in the U.S. Navy. While the maximum load out for the Ohio SSBNs was 24 Trident nuclear-armed submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBM) earlier, it has been reduced to 20 due to arms control agreements with Russia.

General Kurilla said in a statement: “I was thoroughly impressed with the crew of the USS West Virginia; these sailors represent the highest level of professionalism, expertise, and discipline across the U.S. military.”

He added, “These submarines are the crown jewel of the nuclear triad, and West Virginia demonstrates the flexibility, survivability, readiness, and capability of USCENTCOM and USSTRATCOM [U.S. Strategic Command] forces at sea.”

It is pertinent to note that it is an extremely unlikely move on the part of the U.S. military to disclose the location of its nuclear submarines, so rare that it has only been done a few times in the past.

Hyderabad Metro Rail’s car-free appeal riles commuters

Current affairs

While the HMRL encouraged commuters to use the Metro Rail on Sept 22 in order to give their cars a day’s break, outraged Metro Rail users asked that the HMRL increase coaches.

HYDERABAD: The World Car Free Day is observed annually on September 22 and promotes car-free days in cities all around the world. This year, the Hyderabad Metro Rail also jumped on board, promoting the use of metro trains as an alternative to driving cars around, entirely oblivious to the reality that most metro trains run at capacity and are constantly crowded with people squabbling for space.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail tweeted, “Hiya Hyderabad, Let’s give your automobiles a day’s relaxation on the event of World Automotive Free Day” and shared a picture inviting the town commuters to make use of the metro, which sparked backlash from the commuters.

Whereas the Hyderabad Metro Rail Restricted (HMRL) inspired commuters to make use of the Metro Rail on September 22 so as to give their automobiles a day’s break, outraged Metro Rail customers requested that the HMRL improve coaches, no less than throughout peak hours, as the vast majority of metro trains are already full of passengers.

Sharada, a daily Metro Rail consumer who works for an MNC in Raidurgam, said, “All of the coaches, together with two to 3 coaches allotted for ladies, are already working at most occupancy throughout peak hours. If the Metro Rail authorities are asking us to take the metro on particular dates equivalent to ‘World Automotive Free Day’, they need to achieve this solely after growing the variety of coaches.”

Private Engineering colleges fee slashed in Telangana

Published by Theaglenews

Hyderabad: In a major decision that could bring in relief for students and parents, the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) slashed the fee for several private engineering colleges in the State by revising its earlier fee structure that was fixed in July.

This year, the TAFRC has fixed a fee of Rs.1.60 lakh per annum for the MGIT, which is highest among all private engineering colleges. This college has retained its fee structure as fixed in July. Similarly, the CBIT which earlier got the highest fee structure i.e., Rs.1.73 lakh per annum has now got a fee of Rs.1.12 lakh per annum.

On the other hand, the minimum fee has gone up from Rs.35,000 per annum in 2019 to Rs.45,000 per annum now. Around 12 engineering colleges received fees over Rs.1 lakh per annum and majority colleges have a fee more than the minimum fee. This new fee structure will be applicable for the next three-year block period starting academic year 2022-23.

As fee revision was due for the next three-year block period this year, the TAFRC had invited applications from private colleges. A fee of Rs.1.73 lakh per annum for the CBIT was fixed in July this year. Likewise, close to 30 colleges got their revised over Rs.1 lakh per annum.

However, this revised fee was not notified and the Committee had decided to retain the existing fee for the present academic year given the hardships faced by students and parents due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the Committee decided on retaining the earlier fee structure, 79 private engineering colleges approached theHigh Court which passed an interim order allowing them to collect the enhanced fee. However, it asked the colleges to refund the differential amount if the fee notified by the TAFRC was less than the amount collected from students.

With some colleges approaching the Committee seeking a review on the fee fixed, the TAFRC, while reviewing audit reports submitted by managements, has found several discrepancies. Following which the Committee had called around 90 colleges for personal hearings in which the fee for several colleges was reduced compared to the fee fixed in July, while for some earlier fee was retained.

“The new fee structure will be placed before the TAFRC committee meeting which is scheduled for Saturday and later it will be sent to the State government for issuance of order,” an official said.

Bhutan has re-opened its borders for international tourists after over two and half years following the COVID-19 pandemic. The reopening has come with a revised tourism levy called the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF).

The tiny Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan Friday finally opened its borders to international tourists, including those from India, after being closed for two and a half years due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Bhutan’s Ambassador to India, Major General Vetsop Namgyel said fully-vaccinated travellers are now welcome and tourists would no longer be required to be quarantined upon arrival.
Namgyel said the strict measures adopted by the Bhutanese government during the pandemic helped the country save lives.
We took two and a half years to open our international borders, as our priority during the pandemic was to prevent the loss of lives. So we took very stringent measures. This was very effective as Bhutan hardly had any fatalities from Covid-19,” the Bhutanese Ambassador stated.

As of today, there will be no more quarantine for people coming to Bhutan. There will be no test on arrival. Only vaccine certificate needs to be shown,” he added.
The envoy said there will be a daily fee for tourists to enter Bhutan. Namgyel said the Bhutanese government’s tourism council has fixed a fee of Rs 1,200 per day for Indians. For other international tourists, the fee is USD 200 per day.
“The tourism council did a review of policies to find out if we have to keep Bhutan as a high or low volume tourist destination. For Indian tourists, Rs 1,200 per day will be charged by the Bhutanese government as Sustainable Development Fee (SDF),” the ambassador said.

World’s highest railway bridge on Chenab river to get GOLDEN JOINT, know all about it By Theaglenews

© Provided by Theaglenews.Indian railways has achieved a lot of milestones lately, but the organisation is on the verge to complete the construction of the world’s highest single-arch railway bridge over the Chenab River. The completion of the bridge is scheduled for next week. The bridge is being built at a height that can make people go weak. Well, the bridge sits at a height of 359 metres. Devotees allege poor management of crowds at Tirumala Tirupati temple, raise slogans. FOLLOW us on Zeusnewsos

Devotees who thronged the temple alleged that VIPs and the staff people are given preferential treatment and those waiting in the queue were not even provided basic amenities. By Theaglenews

Slogans of ‘EO (Executive Officer) down down’ reverberated through the Sri Venkateswara temple atop Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh in the month of January but the Government is least bothered . The devotees alleged that due to inadequate arrangements made by the Executive Officer (EO) of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which oversees affairs at the temple, devotees are forced to wait in the queue for hours without food and water. Devotees also expressed their outrage over alleged preferential treatment provided to VIPs, and temple staff peoples who skipped the queue for the darshan.

A devotee who visited the temple said, “They gave 2 pm slot for darshan but  finally got chance at 8.30 pm. There is no food or water during the peak time. Devotees went through a lot of trouble. If devotees ask questions to authorities, police behave like rowdies and were seen pushing them back. Should devotees be scared of them?”

A woman devotee said, “We were forced to stand in line for so long with our kids and VIPs and staff recommended people kept going. They packed us all together even though we also paid for the darshan as well. Won’t COVID-19 spread now? Policemen are also constantly roughing us up. Those VIPs with a lot of money are taking groups of people with them in front of our eyes because they have money. Do you think no one will ask? TTD EO did not make proper arrangements. He should resign. We came in the morning and we’re still here in the evening. Who should we tell our troubles to?”

Here in the temple town of Tirupati, the news is all about the appointment, by the Andhra Pradesh government, of a ‘jumbo’ Board of 81 members for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board. With irregularities, poor Management the world richest temple is slowing loosing its name.

Before Shericka Jackson, there was Florence Griffith Joyner, still the fastest woman on earth. A bank teller, a fashionista, a supreme athlete, the fastest there ever was. She died young at 38, in her sleep after an epileptic seizure but left an incredible inspiring tale for future stars like Serena Williams.

“The fastest living woman!” The commentator would boom just as Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson blurred along the track, arms pumping, knees kicking, to an incredible time of 21:45 to take gold at the World Athletic Championship. She still would be the second-fastest woman in history. The fastest was the great Florence Griffith Joyner, aka Flo Jo, who lived a fast dreamy life as a runner, a free spirit, an ebullient fashionista who the famous singer Beyonce would nod her respects to, once wearing a ‘flo-jo’ costume, and who died tragically young, in her sleep after an epileptic attack, a death that she had premonitions about for a while. They say it’s better to die young than fade away and Flo Jo unfortunately became its most famous symbolic figure. But boy could she run. Her life is quite a story.
