HYDERABAD: Telangana has recorded its highest count of Covid-19 cases in a single day on Sunday with 3,187 new cases being reported in the state, breaking the previous record during the first wave. During the peak of the pandemic, the single day highest number of cases was recorded on August 26 when 3,018 cases were recorded (was the highest count till now). On August 28th last year, 2,932 cases were recorded which is now the third highest count of new cases recorded in a single day.
Of the 3,187 cases recorded on Sunday, 11 April 2021, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Medchal Malajgiri, Ranga Reddy and Sanga Reddy together accounted for 1,259 cases.
“Majority of the cases are being seen in and around Hyderabad (GHMC limits). Also cases are increasing in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Nirmal and few other districts. Due to high infectivity, cases are increasing rapidly,” said Dr G Srinivasa Rao, director public health, Telangana state.
